Radiative transformations of methyl yellow in polyvinyl chloride films by pulse radiolysis

  • 1. I. M. Gubkin Moscow Institute of the Petrochemical and Gas Industry, USSR

Description

The radiation-chemical transformation of the azo dye, methyl yellow, was studied in polyvinyl films by steady and pulse irradiation. The effect of adding CBr4 and C2Br4 on the efficiency of forming the acid species of methyl yellow on irradiation was studied. The formation of this species was postulated to involve transference of a proton from RH+ followed by interaction with Cl- and post-radiative addition of the hydrochloride
