The IRSN has carried on with the expertise of safety and radiation protection of the plant of production of artificial radio-elements exploited by the CIS Bio International Company on the site of Saclay

This document discusses the content of another one analysis issued by CIS Bio International and completing the safety re-examination file of its Saclay site. It first recalls the definition of such a safety re-examination (to make a review and assessment of the installation safety and radiation protection with respect to current safety and radiation protection regulation and practices, and a review and assessment of foreseen evolutions). It presents the installation of production of artificial radio-elements which was created at the beginning of the 1960's and which now only produces radio-pharmaceutical products which are used in nuclear medicine. It states the opinion of the IRSN on additional elements concerning the compliance examination, and the re-assessment of safety and radiation protection. It concludes that some works must be performed within the best delays in a basic nuclear installation, and that production increases suggested by CIS Bio International cannot be implemented under the current radiological zoning and staff dosimetry
