Mutual friction between the normal component and vortices in rotating superfluid helium
Description
The Hall and Vainen theory of damping the second sound in a rotating helium, the development of the theory and the limits of its applicability are discussed. It has been shown that the Iordansky force must be added to the vortex transverse friction force only for phonons, if the cross section of vortex scattering is usually determined as square of the scattering amplitude in the Born approximation. For rotons whose scattering cross section is determined by the classical theory of scattering, the Iordansky force need not be added, and the resulting transverse force for rotons and phonons is found to be same and equal in value to the Iordansky force. The correction to the vortex friction force of phonons of own oscillations of a vortex filament is determined
