Three-dimensional imaging of bones with US CT

Description

In this paper an ultrasonic water path scanning system capable of simultaneously imaging small organs in the transmission and reflection modes is described. The system consists of a transducer pair mounted on an assembly capable of executing linear and rotational motion under computer control. At each step of translation, the amounts of ultrasonic energy transmitted and reflected are measured. Data that evaluate whether or not this methodology can be used to detect callus formation during bone healing after fracture is presented
