High-latitude ionosphere response to variation of thermospheric wind under disturbed conditions

Description

An analytical model of the meridian neutral field component, depending on time, heght, latitude, season, solar and geomagnetic activities is developed. This model was used in the experiment on numerical calculation of the effect of the meridian thermospheric wind component on the macrostructure of electron concentration distribution nemF2 in the F2 layer maximum of the high-latitude ionosphere under perturbed conditions. Quantitatively the wind effect is the greatest in subauroral ionosphere, especially in the vicinity of the main ionospheric through and in the after-midnight sector. In the region of polar cap and auroral oval the nem F2 macrostructural variations are mainly related to the thermospheric composition variations
