Aiming the diffusion of correct understanding about nuclear safety knowledge

Description

For promoting atomic energy development, it is important to spread the correct knowledge about radiation, and as its method, the method of explanation while each participant is measuring an object that is by his side in round-table talk and others is most effective. It is necessary to sufficiently discuss with those concerned how to obtain the understanding of public hereafter about the fact that unlike many other harmful substances, as for radiation, the limit has been determined based on probabilistic effect, assuming there is no threshold value, and that the more dangerous matters that are by their side become the factors causing cancer than radiation. Based on the experience of the PA works for promoting the location of nuclear fuel cycle facilities in Aomori, the author presents his opinion about the correct understanding of radiation by public. Japanese is very sensitive to radiation due to the experience of atomic bombings. The opposers to nuclear power regard radiation as excessively dangerous, which is scientifically incorrect, but general public believe in it.
