Description

The kinetics of the diffusion chromizing process has been studied in the base of changes in weight and in chemical composition of commercial iron and 12Kh18N9T steel foils. Suggested are empirical relationships of the integral flows of metal components: chromium, iron, nickel, participating in external mass transfer in different directions. According to the experimental data calculated are the mass transfer rate coefficients for the components. The effect is shown upon the kinetics of the mass transfer of the mass balance at the interface and the dependence of the latter on the chemical composition of the investigated metal and the temperature. The process of the diffusion chromizing is considered as a combination of chemical transport reactions, determining its specificity. The variation of the pressure is investigated in a closed working space during chromizing and examined are the causes underlying a build-up of vacuum therein
