Description
Simulation experiments were performed to develop a model for the penetration behavior of solidified core material into concrete. The rate of penetration of a hot solid with conducting bottom and insulated sidewall into an underlying dry ice slab is measured. Experimental results indicate that the interfacial convective heat transfer coefficient depends on the density, diameter and height of the penetrating material and on the temperature difference between the solid and substrate
