Description

The detection of ionizing radiation by thermoluminescent (Tl) materials has been studied all over the world, so one of the current challenges of Tl dosimetry is the synthesis and characterization of new or modified materials that offer a linear and specific response for photons, neutrons and charged particles. Magnesium Borates have physical and chemical properties that can contribute in the area of personal and medical dosimetry. With aim to analyze a TLD sensitive to photons and neutrons, compounds based on Magnesium Borates doped with a rare earth and an alkali metal have been characterized by means of the Hr-Tem microscopic technique and the Ftir spectroscopic technique. The results obtained are the degree of crystallinity, the phases present in the material as well as the chemical bonds according to the absorption in the infrared for its structural identification.
