Optical methods for measuring wetness and spectral composition of steam-water mixture

Description

The calculation-theoretical and experimental studies carried out in the Krzhizhanovsky Institute of Energetics are reviewed. The purpose of the studies is to reveal the possibilities of applying the effect of narrow-angle light scattering by disperse particles to the contact-free measurements of the parameters of the coarse condensed phase of vapor-water mixture. It has been shown that, in case of realization of absolute measurements, the known method of narrow angles can give comprehensive information on particle spectrum and, thereby, makes it possible to measure the volume concentration of the disperse phase. Consideration is given to the possibility of realizing similar measurements of narrow-angle x-ray scattering in two-phase media with high-disperse particles. The studies show that, in case of realization of absolute measurements, the narrow-angle method permits the spectral composition of the disperse moisture of the vapor-water mixtures and humidity to be sufficiently correctly measured. The proposed two-angle method is of interest when studying transient two-phase systems
