The fine structure constant from helium fine structure
Creators
- 1. Yale Univ., New Haven, Conn. (USA). Gibbs Lab.
Description
New theoretical values of the 23P fine structure splittings in helium are presented. If QED is assumed valid, the experimental values of the splittings combined with theory yield a value for the fine structure constant accurate to 0.94 ppm. (Auth.)
