Use of 234Th tracer to validate the separation procedure for the determination of traces of thorium in uranium matrix
- 1. Radioanalytical Chemistry Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
A separation procedure using Aliquat 336 for the determination of trace amounts of thorium in uranium matrix was developed. The validation of the separation procedure for quantitative recovery of thorium was carried out by using 234Th as a tracer due to the non availability of certified reference material. A recovery of > 92% of thorium from uranium matrix was possible using 20% aliquat 336 in xylene. (author)
