Heterogeneous hydrolysis of platinum, iridium and rhodium chloro complexes on the iron, titanium, zirconium, chromium, and indium oxyhydroxide surfaces

Description

Consideration is given to comparative data on kinetics of heterogeneous hydrolysis of [IrCl6]2-, [PtCl4]2- and [RhCl6]3- complex anions at the interface of their aqueous solutions with the surface of amorphous iron(3), titanium(4), zirconium(4), indium(3) and chromium(3) oxyhydroxide. Data were analyzed from the viewpoint of the dependence of process rate on nature of complex and oxyhydroxide. The importance of geometrical configuration of complex is shown. Ionic potential of the cation, forming oxyhydroxide, dictates acidic-basic and sorption properties of oxyhydroxide, but it can't be their main criterion, because of great importance of electronic structure of cation
