Tritium level in diet and tritium ingestion of residents of Shanghai city

Description

The samples of 9 kinds of foods and 20 samples of tap water were collected from Shanghai district during 1992-1993, and their 3H contents were measured. The results showed in foods the 3H contents in free water and in organically combined state were 4.11 and 28.44 Bq/L respectively, and that in drinking water was 1.32 Bq/L. These values were within normal natural background. The annual ingestion of 3H was estimated to be 4.7 kBq, in which 4.0 kBq came from foods, i.e., the contribution of foods amounted to 85%. The conclusion was drawn foods was the main source of 3H ingestion of residents of Shanghai City
