New techniques used for tumor localization

  • 1. Tokyo Univ. (Japan). Faculty of Medicine

Description

Recently, there were several imaging techniques for diagnosis and therapy of cancers. They are radioisotope imaging, positron-annihilation computed tomography (PCT), ultrasound tomographic imaging (US-T), X-ray computed tomography (XCT), heavy ion CT and nuclear magnetic resonance CT (NMR CT). Clinical evaluation of PCT, X-CT and heavy ion CT were shortly reviewed. As to NMR CT, its measurement, principle, imaging technique, comparison with X-CT, relation of T1 and T2 to cancer, clinical problems of images and potentiality in future were discussed. NMR has great significances to detect cancer graphically and chemically. (author)
