Thermal fluctuation of the vortex positions in high-Tc superconductors

Description
The mean square thermal fluctuations of the vortex positions, of the vortex spacing, and of the shear strain in the three-dimensional flux line lattice are calculated. These quantities may serve as criteria for a melting of the vortex lattice. For κ >> 1 the pronounced elastic nonlocality (softening at short strain wavelengths) strongly increases the amplitude and decreased the frequency of the thermal fluctuation
