Use of Rover-like systems as drivers for LMFBR fuel pin tests
Description
Calculations and experiments have been performed to investigate the use of Rover-type reactors as driver cores for transient testing of LMFBR fuel pins. A PARKA assembly can deposit significant energies in test arrays containing up to 37 pins, while a Phoebus 2-type reactor can be used as a driver core for full subassembly tests (217 pins). A proposed test facility using the UHTREX (Ultra Hith Temperature Reactor Experiment) shielded facility is described
