Transforming AECL into an export company: Institutional challenges and change. Chapter 4

This article (Chapter Four) discusses the federal policy and institutions with reference to the nuclear industry in Canada. It examines the transformation of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) from a research institution into a commercial entity with an international outlook. By concentrating on some key changes in the past decade, the article provides a focussed look at one of Canada's key Science and Technology-based agencies, which, like other federal bodies, has gone through a period of often turbulent change propelled by both national and global forces
