AY-102 Tank 1/22nd Scaled Mixing and Transfer Demonstrations (Results of Pilot-Scaled Mixing for Feed Preparation for Hanford/In-tank Elutriation)
Description
Conclusions from Phase II demonstrations: (1) 16 Tests conducted, the solids transferred to each Receipt Tank were consistent for the first five batches; (2) Low liquid level in the MDT - poor mixing for the 6th batch; (3) Large particles fell out immediately after MJP jet passed; (4) Large dense particles transferred from MDT to RTs well - contents were never homogenously mixed; (5) Flow rate to MJP, biggest impact on solids transfer; (6) Simulants mixed better at slow MJP rotation; and (7) Changing a test parameter may have had a small impact on total solids transferred from the MDT on a given test, but the data indicates that there is essentially no impact on the solids transferred batch to batch for a given test.
