Spectral study of Novae Vul 1976

Description

From 13 diffraction spectrograms of Nova Vul 1976 with a dispersion 165 A/mm obtained from November 4th to December 27th 1976, the intensities of about 350 spectral lines in absorption and emission were identified and measured. The line time variations were traced too. For the strongest lines, the velocities of the envelope expansion were determined both from halfwidths of emission components and from the shift of absorption lines. The main spectrum was substituted by the diffusion-spark spectrum on November 16th. The Orion spectrum dominated from November 25th, the first lines of the nebular spectrum appeared about December 6th, 1976, though the main nebular spectrum was established a year later, in October 1977. As a whole, Nova Vul 1976 can be considered as a typical mean-fast Nova star which can be described by a model of Baade and Boyarchuk-Gershberg, showing more complicated main and additional envelopes
