A case of tracheobronchial and pulmonary amyloidosis, showing calcification on CT and bone scintigram

  • 1. Research Institute of Tuberculosis, Tokyo (Japan)

Description

A 59-year-old woman was admitted for the further examination on multiple nodular shadows on the chest X-ray. CT revealed calcifications in some of nodular shadows. On the bone scintigram, hot spots were found in these nodular shadows. Bronchoscopic examination revealed eight nodules on the tracheobronchial wall. The histological diagnosis of these nodules was amyloidosis. Tracheobronchial amyloidosis combined with pulmonary one is rare manifestation and we emphasize that CT and bone scintigram are useful means for the diagnosis of amyloidosis. (author)
