Nuclear energy utilization in West Germany reaches limit of growth. Electricity industry: Environmental protection policy has led to an investment surge
Creators
Description
The times of plenty for the electricity industry of West Germany have come to an end now. The good old annual growth rates of the fifties, which never were less than a two-digit percentage, tuned down to just moderate, while at the same time a change of significance of the various energy sources could be observed. The contribution of nuclear energy to total electricity generation has been rising from 3% in 1970 to currently 37%. In the same period, heating oil fell from 15% to less than 2%. It is assumed that the current situation on the energy market will continue over the next few years. (orig.)
