The safety and wholesomeness of irradiated foods
Description
After studying the report by the Advisory Committee on Irradiated and Novel Foods (April 1986) the authors re-state the conclusion of their paper of 1982. There would appear to be a good case for the use of this technology but we believe that it will be essential to develop such legislation and regulatory procedures as will safeguard the workers in the producing countries and also convince the consumer that the food has been subjected to acceptable standards of wholesomeness, hygienic practice and treatment control.
