Parton recombination and the similarity between meson spectra and the valence quark distributions
Description
The similarity between the inclusive meson spectra and the valence quark distribution functions first observed by Ochs is studied within the framework of the parton recombination model. It is shown that the meson spectra depend crucially on the choice of the joint two parton distribution functions and hence the similarity is not necessarily a firm consequence from the model. However, the similarity is exactly realized if one adopts the Kuti-Weisskopf model to provide the relevant parton distribution functions
