Dynamics of a laser irradiated dense plasma column

Description
The interaction of high power laser radiation with a dense plasma column is studied by means of a simple model describing the radial expansion of the column, the changes in its temperature and the variations in the magnitude of the plasma current. A significant increase in the plasma electron temperature is obtained for realistic system parameters. (author)
