Kepler-62 e and Kepler-62 f: The Potential Internal Structure of these habitable worlds

Full text: Recently, Borucki et al. (2013) reported on the discovery of two terrestrial-like planets around a K2V star. We present a model for the internal structure of these planets that have radii of 1.61 and 1.41 Earth radii, respectively. We estimate their relatively high bulk densities, which point to large Fe/Ni-cores. Therefore, the central pressures is about 2.5 to 4 times higher than in the center of the Earth and the gravity on their surfaces is 1.5 to 2.5 times the gravity at mean sea level on Earth. (author)
