Restrictions on long-range forces following from the Casimir effect
Description
Restrictions are discussed on the constants of potentials of the form 1r/sup n/, which follow from measurements of Casimir forces between a flat plate and a spherical lens. Expressions are found for additional long-range forces between a plate and a lens for arbitrary n. It is shown that for n = 2 and 3 the restrictions from the Casimir effect are significantly stronger than follow from other laboratory experiments. The effective potential for scattering of an electron by an electron as the result of exchange of two hadrons is found. A new restriction on the coupling constant of an electron with arions is found: x/sub e/ <60
