Spatial spectral and angular distribution of 137Cs gamma radiation backscattered by various materials
Description
The spectral and angular disribution of gamma radiation with 0.662 MeV primary energy backscattered from different parts of the surface of plane samples of various thicknesses have been calculated using the Monte Carlo method, and have been studied experimentally by means of a scintillation spectrometer. The obtained characteristics are analyzed taking into account the contributions of singly and multiply scattered photons. Moreover, the influence of thin coatings of heavy materials on the albedo of light materials has been studied too. (author)
