Description

Recent experimental data on the transverse momentum distributions of lepton pairs produced in pion-nucleus interactions revealed a strong nuclear dependence of these distributions. A comparison of the cross sections of lepton pair production in π-W and π-D interactions shows that the cross section ratio increases with increasing transverse momentum of the pairs. An attempt is described undertaken to explain the effect of increasing the lepton pair production cross section ratio with a rise in transverse momentum in the framework of the multiquark bag model, taking into account the transverse motion of quarks inside bags.
