Trend of major earthquakes during the period 1900-2011 and its association with some solar and geomagnetic parameters

Description
The paper presents long term trend of major earthquake (magnitude ≥6 Richter scale) occurrence throughout world. Analysis shows that occurrence trend decreases during the period 1900-1962, afterwards the trend increases. Solar coronal index, geomagnetic disturbance indices (Kp, Ap index) follow the opposite trend during the above mentioned period. Possible explanation is presented. (author)
