Basis and development of legislative radiation protection regulations in medicine
Creators
Description
In the frame of the radiation protection law (version 2017) the medical exposure has a special exceptional position because even in case of profound radiation protection measures the annual dose limit of 1 mSv is very often surmounted. The acting radiologist using ionizing radiation or radioactive materials within diagnostic or therapeutic nuclear medicine has a high responsibility with respect to benefit or hazard of the planned exposure. Especially in the cases of children, pregnant women or persons with high radiation sensitivity the consideration of radiation hazards is of eminent importance.
