Description

We present preliminary measurements of the iron and oxygen abundances in 8 F/G-type stars of the young Blanco 1 open cluster. Previous work suggested that this cluster has a high metal content, but a Li-abundance pattern similar to the solar-metallicity Pleiades. This would contradict the strong metallicity dependence predicted by models of pre-main sequence Li depletion. Our new results show that the metallicity of the cluster is lower than previously believed, with [Fe/H] approximately solar and with [O/Fe]∼ 0.1
