How SECT [Significant Event Compilation Tree] software helps identify unanticipated precursors to failure
Description
SECT is a piece of software developed by the Canadian Atomic Energy Control Board which looks for links between seemingly unrelated events that have occurred at different times in nuclear plants around the world and identifies previously unforeseen failure paths. The aim is to help operators develop a preventive approach to potential problems and thereby complete the experience feedback loop. (author)
