The construction and performance of tourmaline pressure transducers fabricated at AEE Winfrith
Description
Pressure transducers made from naturally occurring piezoelectric tourmaline crystals have been used for many years to measure underwater pressure transients. This report describes the construction and performance of single and twin crystal tourmaline transducers specially developed for use in small scale experiments. They have been used successfully in both free-water and surface mounted conditions to measure transients up to 100 MPa peak pressure. (author)
