Quality control tests in radiology services in Aracaju, SE, Brazil

Description

The results of quality control tests on beams of X-rays, diagnostic level, performed in radiology services from hospitals of Aracaju, SE, Brazil are presented. The values of kerma in air; consistency between the fields and the irradiation fields and the semi-reductant layers for each equipment and set of parameters have been evaluated. Direct measures were obtained using two ionization chambers, a parallel and cylindrical plates. As an optional method to perform some of the tests were measured with dosimeters thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD) of CaSO4:Dy+ Teflon. The kerma values in the air were evaluated for three values of voltage, 40, 60 and 81 kV from 1.0 m of distance of the equipment focusing lens. For each one of the voltage were chosen three distinct values of current and a fixed amount of time. The results showed that the values of kerma in air ranged between 1 .9 Gy and 0.37 mGy. The TLDs proved efficient for the measures, since the answer to dose is previously known for each set of parameters of the beam used for irradiation. The values found for semi-reductant layer were satisfactory
