Correction of interelemental effects in the determination of copper in copper alloys by the X-ray fluorescence analysis

Description

A solution method of the X-ray fluorescence analysis for copper determinations in several copper alloy grades was elaborated. The effect of zinc and nickel on the fluorescent radiation emission of copper was investigated. In view of the existing interelemental effects, a mathematical correction method was used, which considers the degree of the influence depending on the concentration of interfering elements. In the suggested correction method, the sum of impurities must be taken into consideration, with the exception of alloys, mainly binary ones, in which this sum is below 1.0%. This method makes it also possible to determine the presence of zinc and nickel in the investigated copper alloys. (author)
