Description
Laser ablation is based on removal of material by intense laser irradiation. The interaction of high-intensity laser pulses with a solid target involves plasma formation. The emission spectroscopy of the plasma produced in laser ablation at high power densities is called laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). Laser induced plasma and the crater formation on the material are strongly depend on irradiation condition such as incident laser properties (beam intensity, pulse duration, energy, wavelength, irradiation spot size), solid target properties and surrounding environment's condition. The results of the laser - solid interaction will be presented. In this study, nano - second Nd:YAG laser is used with different irradiation parameters. Lines emitted from the plasma formed during the laser ablation of Titanium in air at atmospheric pressure have been measured at different laser pulses energy. Mass ablation rate has been investigated at different laser wavelengths
