Sensitization of mercury fulminate under irradiation

Description

Flash temperature and sensitivity to shock of mercury fulminate (MF) have been studied for their change under 60Co gamma irradiation up to doses of 1 x 106 Gy and dose rates from 2 to 5 Gy/s, as well as under pulsed irradiation with electron beams of 0.02 J/cm2 integral energy flux and 15 ns pulse duration. MF sensitivity to shock is shown to increase within absorbed doses of (1-5) x 105 Gy. Some changes in IR spectra of MF under irradiation, as well as changes of MF properties during irradiated sample storage have been observed
