The infrared fluxes of Ba II stars

  • 1. South African Astronomical Observatory, Cape (South Africa)

Description

J, H and K (1.2 to 2.2 μ) photometry is given for 15 Ba II stars. These stars have an infrared excess compared to normal giants of the same (V-I). This excess appears to be correlated with the known blue deficiency of Ba II stars. The results strengthen the similarity between the Ba II stars and the 'blue-deficient' stars in the globular cluster Omega Centauri. (author)
