Principles for the comparison of the proportions of straylight present in monochromators of various types
Description
The origin and propagation of straylight in monochromators is investigated and an expression is derived for the ratio of the straylight and the effective spectral intensity within the exit slit. This expression, for a prescribed resolution and speed, permits to select the design involving the minimum of straylight which can be attained. (orig.)
