Diophantine equation for the tan2 well

  • 1. Dipartimento di Fisica, Universita Roma Tre and Istituto Nazionale per la Fisica della Materia, Via della Vasca Navale 84, I-00146, Rome (Italy)

Description

We consider a Poeschl-Teller potential R tan2 (ξ) (R being a constant), which includes the infinite square well as a limiting case. After suggesting a self-contained derivation of the energy eigenstates, we show that quantum revivals occur if R permits a certain Diophantine equation to be solved
