The effect of salts and metal oxide sols on radiation-chemical transformation of carbohydrates and abiogenic synthesis of amino acids

  • 1. AN SSSR, Leningrad. Inst. Tsitologii

Description

It is shown that the effect of ionizing radiation on hexose and pentose solutions in the presence of hydrosulphite salts and metal oxide sols is accompanied by processes of oxidation and break-down, leading to appearance of carbonyl compounds, organic acids, H2SO4 and substance with lambdasub(max)=261 nm. Sulphates and sols are in the series CuSO4>MnSO4=NiSO4>H2O (solution of glucose without salt) and MoO3>V2O5>Al2O5>H2O (solution of glucose without oxide) according to catalytic action on changes of carbohydrate. It is found out that gas saturating solutions during radiation O2>Ar>Co2, effects radiation-chemical transformations of glucose, mannose and arabinose. Amino acids with carbon chain from 2 to 6 carbon atoms form under the action of ionizing radiation on the solutions of hexoses and pentoses, containing nitrates as nitrogen source
