Influence of γ-irradiation on ultrasound damping in manganese zinc spinels

Description
Coefficient of ultrasound wave magnetoacoustic attenuation (α in manganese-zinc spinel monocrystals subjected to γ-irradiation from a Co60 source with the doses from 3x106 to 109 ead has been measured. The measurements were made at the frequency of 30 MHz in the temperature range of 250-330 K. Nonmonotonous character of α change depending on irradiation dose was revealed. The most significant changes were pointed out in the range o spin-reorientation phase transition. The contribution of different defects to the values of magnetoacoustic attenuation was discussed
