Description

The magnitudes and in some cases also the signs of the electric field gradients (EFG) at dilute impurities of 99Ru, 178Hf, 193Ir, and 197 Au in hexagonal d-transition metals were determined by Moessbauer spectroscopy. The signs of the EFGs follow the systematic trend found in pure systems: positive signs in IIIb and IVb host metals and negative signs in VIIb and VIIIb host metals. In addition, a strong electronic enhancement of the EFGs at 99Ru, 193Ir, and 197Au is observed in IIIb and IVb hosts. (orig.)
