Description
A ring gas-discharge plasma source has been developed for filling magnetic mirror confinement systems. The initial plasma diameter is approx.13 cm; the density is (2--3) x 1014 cm-3; and the temperature is 10--15 eV. The degree of ionization of the plasma is 99.9%. Experiments on the capture of hydrogen atoms with an energy of 5--15 keV in a jet have shown that this jet can be used to fill open magnetic confinement systems with hot plasmas
