Description

Several substituted di-glycol amides viz. TODGA, TEHDGA, THDGA, TPDGA and TDDGA were evaluated in a comparative study for the transport of Am(III) across PTFE flat sheet supported liquid membranes. The concentration of the diglycolamides was 0.1 M in n-dodecane while the feed and receiver solutions were 3 M HNO3 and 0.1 M HNO3, respectively. Effect of phase modifier i.e, 30% iso-decanol on the transport of Am(III) was also evaluated. Solvent Extraction studies were also carried out to determine the number of solvent molecules attached with Am(III). Feed acidity was also varied for each of the diglycolamides to understand acidity effect on the transport rate. (author)
