INfluence of vinasse on water movement in soil, using automatic acquisition and handling data system

Description
The vinasse, by-product of ethylic alcohol industry from the sugar cane juice or molasses yeast fermentation, has been incorporated in the soil as fertilizer, due to the its hight organic matter (2-6%), potassium and sulphate (0,1-0,5%) and other nutrient contents. By employing monoenergetic gamma-ray beam attenuation technique (241Am; 59,5 keV; 100 mCi) the influence of vinasse on the water movement in the soil was studied. For this, an automatic acquisition and handling data system was used, based in multichannel analyser, multi-scaling mode operated, coupled to a personal microcomputer and plotter. Despite the small depth studied (6 cm), it was observed that vinasse decreases the water infiltration velocity in the soil. (Author)

A vinhaca ou vinhoto, sub-produto da producao de alcool etilico a partir da fermentacao do caldo ou melaco da cana-de-acucar, tem sido incorporado ao solo como fertilizante, pois apresenta um teor elevado de materia organica (2-6%), potassio (0,1-0,5%), sulfato (0,1-0,5%) e outros nutrientes. Utilizando a tecnica da atenuacao da radiacao gama (241Am;59,5KeV, 100 mCi) foi estudada a influencia da vinhaca na movimentacao da agua no solo em condicoes de laboratorio. Para isto, foi montado um sistema automatico para aquisicao e manipulacao de dados, empregando-se um analisador multicanal, operando em modo 'multiscaling', acoplado a um microcomputador e registrador grafico. Mesmo para pequena profundidade (6 cm) foi observado que a vinhaca diminui a velocidade de infiltracao da agua no solo. (Autor)Additional details
