Alterations of the structure and properties of vitrified radioactive waste during their long-term storage at testing site

Description
Specimens sampled from near-surface area of NPP vitrified radioactive waste glass blocks after their storage on experimental test site for 17 years were studied using the methods of electron microscopy, X-ray phase analysis and infrared spectroscopy. It is shown that environmental conditions affected solely a thin surface layer of the glass blocks, where quartz-like and alumosilicate new formations were revealed

Методами сканирующей электронной микроскопии, рентгенофазового анализа и инфракрасной спектроскопии изучены образцы, отобранные из приповерхностной зоны стеклоблоков остеклованных радиоактивных отходов АЭС, после их хранения на опытном полигоне в течение 17 лет. Показано, что под действием факторов окружающей среды изменениям подвергся только тонкий поверхностный слой стеклоблоков, на котором обнаружены кварцеподобные и алюмосиликатные новообразованияAdditional details
