Prediction of development of geomagnetic storms using the solar wind-magnetosphere energy coupling function epsilon

  • 1. Alaska Univ., College (USA). Geophysical Inst.

Description

It is shown that by monitoring time variations of the solar wind-magnetosphere energy coupling function upstream of the solar wind, one should be able to predict fairly accurately the growth and decay of individual magnetospheric substorms and storms. (author)
