Development of adsorbent for separation and sampling of light element isotopes

  • 1. Shikoku National Industrial Research Inst. Takamatsu (Japan)

Description

The lithium isotope separation behavior of zirconium phosphate (H3O)Zr2(PO4)3·nH2O was studied in Fiscal 1997. The lithium isotope separation factor was determined by the batch method. The value was 1.014, large value. The good adsorbents for lithium isotope separation were antimony acid, titanium phosphate, bisphenanthroline derivatives and (H3O)Zr2(PO4)3·nH2O. The highest boron isotope separation factor was 1.027 (25degC) of boron absorbent with bis-(2-hydroxyalkyl) amino group. The lithium isotope separation factor from sea water by the particle absorbent was compared by two analytical methods such as the batch and the column method. The value of column method was 1.0012, smaller than the bath method. (S.Y.)
